Project Advisory
Pendyne provided an independent review of technical documentation to confirm how requirements are satisfied and verified, and whether the content is technically correct and applicable.
The purpose of this review is to ensure that the end-client accepted deliverables first time, to minimize cost and schedule impact.

Operability
Completed a review of the Operability process for AVENTRA and supported in the development of an Operability Breakdown structure. From this, Pendyne developed Operability Scenarios for a number of different Operational Concepts to task and actor levels. Pendyne then managed the resulting requirements in the DOORS environment to demonstrate compliance.

Contract and Programme management of the installation of an Automatic Vehicle Inspection System.
Pendyne provided expert stakeholder management, contract negotiation and project management skills to capture and deliver client requirements.

Approvals
In Australia, Pendyne undertook the role of Independent Safety Assessor for Sydney Growth Trains.
Pendyne is currently undertaking the same role for the New Intercity Fleet and the Regional Rail Fleet, all of which are being introduced to the Sydney Network.

Franchise Bidding
Pendyne provided strategic consultancy for a bid for the Nice Azure Franchise, supplying expert technical advice for the maintenance, depots and facilities elements of the submission.
Our experts integrated with the Franchisee and helped to submit a strong technical submission.

Business Process Management
Pendyne developed a Functional Engineering Handbook to communicate Functional and Systems Engineering best practice across an organisation. This required learning the existing in-house processes and methods, and incorporating best practice procedures. The resulting handbook was carefully designed to be used by all employees to appreciate the role of Functional Engineering.

Pendyne lead the electrical and functional integration on behalf of Porterbrook for their HybridFLEX conversion of Class 168 and 170 DMU into hybrid DMU, responsible for defining train level modes and functions; creating the schematic design; and developing and providing required modifications.

Functional Integration & Approvals
Established a successful partnership arrangement with the client working across all AVENTRA platform products, responsible for the end to end integration of all systems. Working across the full design and validation V Cycle to simplify the complex and ensure expertly precise specification of requirements and validation of functions to deliver a compliant design.

Simulation
Developed test feasibility assessments and test scenarios for the Crossrail Integration Facility.
Executed testing trouble-shooting and debugging CBTC, ETCS and Train TCMS Software prior to testing on the Crossrail Central Section.

Fully embedded in the client organisation, supplying expert systems architects delivering all aspects of functional integration solutions, including concept design, implementation and testing, instrumental in securing rolling stock approvals.

Software Development
Controlled and managed the TCMS software development to deliver the end to end functionality for new London Undergrounds Sub Surface rolling stock (S Stock).

Integrated the sensors required to provide ADAS functions such as Adaptive Cruise Control, Parking Assistance, Collision Avoidance across the full Jaguar Land Rover product range. Further, had responsibility for the management and specification of all features for the instrument cluster across all product platforms.

Human Factors Irish Rail (TPS)
Delivered Human Factors expertise to multiple ETCS projects, including fitment of ETCS level 1 to existing passenger rolling stock.
Human Factors design and assurance for trackside and onboard Train Protection System (TPS) project, including cab integration.

Signalling (ETCS)
Developed and issued the application-specific specification for the on-board ETCS fitment to Sydney Suburban Fleets for Level 1, with progression to Level 2. Managed stakeholder engagement for Australian and UK clients running internal and external workshops covering safety, human factors, operator and supplier interaction, ensuring project buy-in and an efficient route to agreement of specification.

CAF SJ Ergonomics
Delivered HF assurance and validation for the CAF product for Swedish Railways.
Full train HF design and assurance including saloon, cab, and maintenance by integrating user-centred design in industrial design workshops.

AVENTRA Human Factors Support
Successfully finalised the Human Factors assurance and validation evidence for the Alstom AVENTRA product family.

ETCS Retrofit on Freight
Pendyne provided in-house HF Delivery Management and Engineering expertise to an ETCS retrofit freight project. The objective was to ensure that planned activities were delivered (e.g. quantitative human error analysis; lab, depot & dynamic testing; and operational manual updates), and emerging issues were resolved. This enabled our customer to implement a system that complied with user requirements and promotes efficient, effective, and safe deployment of ETCS.

Electrostar ETCS Fitment
HF assurance and validation of ETCS L2 implementation on the Alstom Electrostar fleets, including gap analysis of different train types, cab modification design assurance, alarm distinguishability testing, and cab modification end user HF testing.
